Grass Heads
We are ready for some spring time!! The children have noticed some things around us starting to grow, (then it snowed again)
After reading a non fiction story about growing grass, we carried out our own gardening experience.
We followed the directions of the book and started growing some grass seeds. The children wanted to see what would grow faster, the grass seeds or the apple seeds from their apples. They had to take care of the seeds everyday by watering them and making sure they were in the sunshine.
Here are some pictures of our progress.

City
This was an amazing provocation brought in by a student. G wanted to show me pictures of a city, and then wanted to create one.
We made plans. We researched the Internet. We made lists of city things. We compared cities to towns or county living.
It became a team effort of cutting and gluing and drawing and deciding who would do what!!!
Amazing!!!

Creations
All these great inventions were inspired by the book we read Rosie Revere the engineer.
Their creations made from beautiful junk are so fantastic.
Kites with this tube to hold the string

Shooting game, get it in the bucket

Popcorn makers

Bubble wrap kite, it's light so it will fly

Lap tops and cash registers
Centers
They played a math game, toll the die and put that many cubes into your cup. Then after 3 turns, determine who had the most. The challenge was to now roll the die and take away that many cubes.

As a team the children created a rainbow with the coloured bears. They used the rainbow poster we made out of magazine cuttings as a resource.

Magic milk!!
First we poured in the milk. We added a few drops of food colouring to the milk. We dipped toothpicks into dish soap and put the toothpick in the center of a colour drop. Wow!! It spreads! It mixes! It moves!

The children out their sewing techniques to the test with this burlap. Some even attached theirs to a friends or made s bag!
