Once again, I apologize for the look of this Blog. We are suffering technical difficulties with the layouts.

"oooo, this is hot! It got soft and squishy.'
(Mrs. Farrato just came around the corner ready for a bite!) |
The children really had to focus on eye/hand coordination.
They really wanted a long string of "wrapper" to eat |
"Can I eat this?" |
More in their bellies then in the pot! |
They figured out, if they chose the biggest apple , the more skin they would get to eat. |
"this peeler does a good job." |
"I need more to cut, can I have more? I eat it too ok?"
I think he ate more, and fed his friends, that none of his apples ended up in the pot. |
"It smells good, like its sweet." |
Who's skin string was longer, GL or GR?
GL ate his so fast I didn't get the chance to measure. |
So focused on her cutting. She wanted to make little pieces.
They worked to hard, they forgot to talk to me! |
They are so proud of themselves. This was an activity that the children had so much control over. |
Poor L- his apple kept slipping off. |
Determined to peel the hardest apple. Her hand was on the release button, you can imagine how many times her apple fell off. |
Great job to everyone being patient and waiting their turn. |
The children helped each other, holding the peeler still while their friend turned the crank, and helping to unfold the apple skin string. |
"We had 20. Now we have 25. We got 5 new ones."
"We have more red apples." |
We counted by 2's and 5's.
I tried to fool them by rearranging the groups of 5.
"You put one top, it's still 5." |
Last but not least, E got the last peeling turn.
She decided she really wanted to try that fun tool. |
"If you take one away, then it will be different. It will be 4!" |
Comparison between Apple sauce in a tube or ours, ours wins!
"It tastes like my moms!" |
"I don't like it. It looks brown."
Her face says it all. |
"It's really good!" |
"I like it. We made good apple sauce." |
3 cup fulls!!
He loved it.
"Can I have more please, then more after I finish this?" |
This was an amazing inquiry based on your children's interests.
We touched so many curriculum expectations in just this simple activity.
We watched our bowl of apples grow and estimated everyday how many we had.
We counted forward, we skip counted, we even subtracted.
We watched the apples transform from hard, cold and white to hot, brown and squishy.
We wrote recipes, we graphed, we wrote the steps of the experiment.
They talked and shared with their friends. And also helped their friends.
Thank you for your donations, it made the learning possible.
