Icebergs or glaciers were our new words today. Its hard to see whats in the bin but we made big chunks of ice...and there is something in it!! How will we get it out? |
"There's dinosaurs in the ice!" "How can we get those out?" educator-we are paleontologists |
"I bent the spoon on the ice. I can bend it with my hands." "Can we add food colouring." "I can see all the holes from the salt." |
"We need more salt. The dinosaurs are almost out." |
"It broke." "The salt made a hole and I can wiggle it." "There is a lot of water." I told the children how this reminded me of the lake when it starts to melt. We had a huge chat about safety being on the ice. |
We added a pile of ice right in the middle of our ice rink. We want to see what happens after PALS. |
"It tastes spicey! I think after PALS it will melt." |
everyone had a chance to sprinkle some salt. They observed how the salt made tiny holes. |
"Its's salty!" "I put it on the ice at home." |
"It feels hard, its frozen" educator- its called a solid, it changed from water to ice. "It will all melt and soon we will be swimming." educator-thats called a liquid. |
These are the children's hockey players and zamboni. |
"I think it will be a swimming pool." |
M- "It looks like the ice rink we made." "We can play hockey." |
J " I have the Zamboni." M "It's good now Zamboni, go back in the parking garage." |
MB "What team do you want to be? Yellow or green?" |
It's a face off!!!! |
"We can use a Lego for the puck." |
MM "I have an idea, we could draw the net and lines. It doesn't work. Maybe we need a different type." |
You can hear so much of the children voice here. I can't possibly record it all, but they say such great things and are discovering so much. Wait till we get in the play yard, our class will be experts on melting it!
Once again, uploading pictures on blogger is a challenge. The order is always wrong and moving them is near impossible. But you get the idea :)
